WHAT IS KEY HOLDING AND ALARM RESPONSE

Some businesses, typically smaller-sized companies, will nominate a selected member of personnel to respond to emergencies. They, often a manager or higher, will have a set of keys or a specific access code, and will be alerted when an alarm is set off no matter the time of day or night. In some cases, small shops or offices in safe surroundings, this system works. But for larger companies, especially companies in busy urban areas or industrial zones, need something more substantial. That’s where our keyholding services come in. Key Max are experienced Keyholders and are pleased to provide a full Key Holding and Alarm Response Service across the UK, covering all areas from the South Coast up to and including Scotland. The providers we use are accredited to both BS7984 2016 and the updated BS7984 2020 standards and have over 20 years’ of knowledge in this area.


Each site or building is treated individually with bespoke Officer instructions and Risk Assessments, specifically created for them.

We are able to respond to calls in a fleet of GPS-equipped vehicles with live reporting through online trackers. We are now also using the Smart Task tagging system which allows us to monitor real-time patrols which is not only beneficial for reporting but essential for the safety of our Operatives.

 Key holding service requires low investment and replaces the need for your employees to be on call or potentially encounter dangerous situations when responding to alarm activations on your premises, therefore upholding your responsibilities as an employer regarding staff welfare, and saving you money.


  • A uniformed patrol officer collects the keys to your premises and issues a Key Receipt as confirmation. This provides a clear audit trail

  • Key protection begins immediately as the keys are secured, in a vehicle safe in our liveried response vehicle

  • With the keys in our custody individual Key identity is protected as the keys are identifiable only by a coded key ring

  • All your details including alarm codes and site instructions are held remotely within the secure environment of our patrol and response Control Centre

  • When the Control Centre is notified of your alarm activation the nearest available patrol officer is selected using our Global Positioning System to ensure the best response time

  • Details of the call are automatically allocated through the database system and sent through to the responding patrol officer via an EDA. This means information is exchanged quickly and confidentially

  • The patrol officer will attend the incident and deal with the situation as your agent

  • Depending upon the seriousness of the incident, either a report will be left on the premises or one of your emergency contacts will be informed

  • We undertake to remain on the premises for the first hour and will ensure that your premises will never be left insecure.
